BoundStories Website Stories Feedback / Re: Island by Jack Peacock

Quote from: jakbird on December 25, 2022, 10:20:14 AMConsider a "hook" early in the story.

Were I a TV screenwriter, then of course one has to prevent changing channels in the first ten minutes.  The written word allows for a bit more leeway.  Yes, no question my stories require patience, and if that's too much then change channels and start on someone else's 5 minute potboiler.  I opt for a solid foundation built at the start.

More sex.
"Moderation. Small helpings. Sample a little bit of everything. These are the secrets of happiness and good health." ~ Julia Child

There's no lack of hot sex scenes in the stories posted here.  A little dash of cayenne pepper adds zest; three cups adds up to inedible.  I choose to present an alternative, to let the reader's imagination help the story along by filling in what I deliberately leave out.  My role model for fiction writing is the style of the old time radio dramas from the 30's and 40's.  Much is implied, very little is explicit.

That's also why I never describe a character's physical appearance.  That's also the responsibility of the reader.  If a portrayal resonates, well then the reader can insert herself by replacing "she" with "me".  A PG rating?  I'll settle for that any day.  Turn on the TV for R rated.

As always I appreciate anyone who takes the time to post a comment on my stories.  If nothing else I now know someone actually reads what I create.

Big fan and long time follower. Just want to voice my support and say keep up the amazing work. The world building of the Island saga and Your Master are second to none after many years of reading this genre. Even single stories like Attention to Detail and A Night in the Desert meticulous details but yet still plenty of room left for readers' imagination.

Perspective change let us understand the world and its characters from different point of view, and I have to say nothing quite like reading what Luisa experiencing her change of psyche and status over the Overtime and Chinese dinner ordeal.

Thanks and looking forward to more of your stories! Hoping for more expansion of the Island and Your Master universes!

I wanted to give a bit of an update on this... So, even after getting a replacement lid, I kept my own lid with batteries in them and checked in on it from time to time.  It's been 9 months, and I just now noticed it was OPEN!  I don't know how long ago it opened, but it finally did!  I don't know if I should trust it or not since it failed on me in the past, but I think it's fascinating how a timed safe that was scheduled to open in half a day took over half a YEAR to unlock! I've tested it a few times and it's locked and unlocked on its own.. so now I have 2 timed lockboxes!

...I'm going to have to get creative with things to lock on.  ;D

Thank you for sharing.

The idea of a game like this existing is chilling, especially seeing how easily Laura, a driven and intelligent woman, fell into its trap and became a "ponygirl." It's a stark and unsettling exploration of the dark side of immersion and control.

The eagle-eyed amongst you might have noticed a few spam posts going up, this appears to be an isolated attack from a single source but is evading the spam filters. So, sadly, for now posts from new members (those who've never posted before) will have to go into an approval queue before they'll show up. Sorry to those genuine new members to the site for the inconvenience, we haven't had to do it this way for a while now.  ::)

Hello Melissa,

Thank you so much for your kind message. I really enjoyed the many little details; they motivated me time and time again. It's always nice to hear when they work.

And yes, the concept is a bit unsettling at times. But that's kind of the appeal, isn't it? ^^
