What is the actual use of gags?

Having been gagged for an hour recently whilst subject to electrical an manual stimulation I can see their use, having agreed to the scene it prevented me influencing what went on, I could make noises but make no input. A most interesting experience I can not wait to repeat. Roles were then swapped and it was my turn on top.

The gag takes away the submissive's ability to communicate intelligibly.  It adds to the helplessness of the situation.  If I am a submissive, I find a good gag keeps me from trying to top from the bottom.  In self bondage, I use the gag to add to the discomfort and to keep me from using technology.  When gagged I cannot ask Alexa for the time.  I also have Alexa perform tasks that aid in an early escape such as turning on lights or turning off the outlet that controls the magnet lock securing me.

Gord devised some wonderful gagging contraptions. Normal gags make you unintelligible, but if you mix that with e-stims and a microphone, you can devise a gag that will shock you (mildly) if it detects any sound coming from the gag.

Old thread, but the topic is timeless.

For me a gag in bondage is absolutely indispensable. I almost only like ball gags with head harness, with or without panel. Hard silicone ball (but smooth to the teeth), without holes, 2 inches or more.

Personally, I like to see a (consensual) woman gagged in that way, the certain expression in the face. But I also like to wear such a gag myself. It increases the feelings of helplessness, dependence, and trustful intimacy with the top. Also, if subject to bear pain, then the gag gives a certain kind of "help" as the restraints do, since to struggle with the pain is no option, so one central decision less.

Ofc gag is a decorative thing! It just looks so adorable, when my Own drools helplessy. It is also very .. exciting to kiss a gagged man. And when he tries to kiss back. Very, very nice.

The use of gag is also a way to emphasize the fact, who has the power in the situation. A gag does not ever fully silence the gagged one, but I think it doesn´t even have to. I like to hear the moans...

Yes, @Mrs D, I agree in all points. Additionally I have the view point also from the receiving perspective (I like wearing gags for myself, but also in the mouth of a female submissive). The large ball, usually made from silicone and having a latex-like finish, is like getting a continous french kiss, the own tongue can play with the other "tongue" (the ball); there is nothing else to do for your tongue. I find it quite calming, a little bit pacifier-like.
