So, in a bit of tidy-up work this evening, I've been looking at story codes (specifically trying to make sure the entries in the
storycodes page reflect what we actually use). Looking at the database of stories threw up some statistics that I thought might interest people, and I thought I'd share some of the highlights here for people to discuss.
Headline figures:
- We've got about 3100 codes in use!
- 1070 of those are only used once.
- 1986 of them are used fewer than five times. So sometimes we go really niche.
- Most popular extremeness level: X
- Most popular consent level: cons
- Most popular topic: bond
- Most popular gender code: M/f. The patriarchy is going nowhere.
- Most popular location: outdoors. Bet you thought it was going to be dungeon, but that's way down in 117th, after public and cell.
- Most popular theme/setting: fantasy. Part of me wanted it to be 'viking' but it turns out there are no stories at all with that tag. Challenge issued...
So, maybe some stereotypes broken, and others reinforced. I'd be interested to hear what you folks thought would be the most popular tags, and whether these numbers surprise you.
