One-sided fascism is no good for the whole community. Equality for everyone is the answer. We're all adults, right? We are mature enough to decide for ourselves without some parent, government, mod, hiding reality from us in our so called best interest
Though not an expert on the subject of trash talking I would like to point out when it comes to themes of domination and submission good old one-sided fascist attitude is essential to the story. The dominant leads by sheer force of will, heedless of consequences. The submissive follows, inexorably drawn to the personality of the individual, willing to be led wherever the dominant chooses, and in chains if need be (gotta throw in some bondage here). The number of successful cults that stem from the same principle, though never publicized, speaks for both individuals and a community that does benefit from the authoritarian head who tolerates no dissension, no deviance from the One Right Way.
We're all adults? I should hope so. Of course, we're all equal, but I'll have to call in Orwell's observation that "some are more equal than others." Do we really all decide for ourselves? If that assumption were true the list of institutions listed above wouldn't exist. Myself, I extoll the virtues of a disciplined, patriarchal society where "more equal" individuals who recognize in themselves the ability to handle the responsibility take on the burden of running that society, determining what's best for those who need a strong hand, a moral compass, in their lives.
To remain on point, in the world of my stories those who seek to be treated like garbage would be hauled out of those trash bags and sent to a re-education center for a few lessons on self-esteem and the innumerable benefits of being Told What To Do, in proper fascist fashion. Discord would be dealt with immediately and in ways guaranteed to discourage any further pursuits along those lines. Not that I would ever criticize someone else's lifestyle choice...
Despite the reference to Orwell readers please take note I only mention fascism in my mindless rant. There is no intent to mention socialism in any form, so don't look for oblique references that might call Godwin's Law criteria into play.
