This was a nice 'tease' and I am looking forward to the next chapter. I like the colloquial wording throughout and that it wasn't too wrapped up in details. The dialogue in particular is the strongest part of the story and does well to put me in mind of a medieval village.

Bonne écriture!

Part 1 - Commentary

Not a lot to say on this one on a line-by-line basis; it's very much 'surface level'

In my 'couples' stories (Sophie & Mark, Brett & Darren, etc.), the Dom(me) characters play some level of sadism, but under it all they genuinely care about their subs. Where this story came from was I wanted to write a story about a pure, unabashed sadist.

I view the Queen as like a spoiled child, who thinks of all of her subjects as her 'toys', for her to play with however she likes. It's not 'malicious' sadism exactly, it's more like solipsism. In my head, the Queen talks with a lisp, which makes her voice sound more like that of a petulant child (tho I didn't make that explicit in the text of the story).

Faye, meanwhile, is surprisingly stoic, given the circumstances. I think if she were actually distressed, the story would be quite unpleasant to read. So she seems to view the situation largely as an inconvenience. At the same time, she has this very romantic, slightly parasocial view of the Queen, which naturally sets her up for the rug-pull ending.
I originally chose the name 'Faye' on the possibility of taking the story in a magical direction (fae/fairy). But I've since abandoned that angle.

The tags on chapter 1 are a little misleading - there's no M+/f 'sex' in this story, tho there are several threats. Truth be told, the first draft did have Faye being actually assaulted, and it was rather mean-spirited. I must have been in a dark mood at the time, but I eventually came to my senses. Once I took that out, my 'silly' impulse kicked in, and the story took on a generally lighter/jokier tone. I think I was also watching "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" around the same time, which likely had some influence on the story.

The title is a reference to Kafka's "The Trial"; a book I haven't read. But my understanding is its about a guy who's being punished for reasons which aren't entirely clear to him (as is Faye). The title may also turn out to be a pun...

Given that Faye and the Queen don't meet until the very end, you could think of part 1 as more of a prologue. I'm thinking it'll be a three-part story, and I have a general idea for parts 2 and 3 - Faye trapped in the castle with the Queen and all that entails - but no concrete plot. This first story drops a few hints/breadcrumbs for future plot details, but I won't call them out so as not to spoil anything :)
If I ever get around to writing the other parts, it won't be until after Sophie & Mark 20 in any case.
