I find I am not sure what to think, or say, while finding I have a lot of thoughts, a lot to say...  not the normal situation after reading a story, but this isn't a normal story

At first, I was wondering why this was posted here, while also being drawn into a world I simply don't know enough to properly appreciate or understand.  I read quite a lot of this with the real and clear feeling that one hell of a lot of thought went into the outfits, the world building, the details, work that I simply don't see and don't understand, since it is a world I don't know about, and don't overlap with.

I mean, cats just look good and don't need fashion

So I feel I did the author a disservice by not "seeing" more of the world they crafted, which both bothered me, and speaks to how well crafted, how well this flows and speaks of something...

The next thing that stands out to me, quite strongly, is almost a disconnect between my sense of age and the depth of maturity and experience at work here.  At times this feels like two sophisticated adults meeting and talking in the middle of a bunch of toddlers   I mean this a compliment to the two central characters, but they feel ahead of their years, ahead of their maturity and experience, by quite a bit.

Watching them dance, and fence with words is fascinating, and I feel like I am getting to see and watch something very private, quite special.

Then we get to the conversation at the cafe...  and I come right back to the thoughts about maturity...  Ethan speaks of understanding that submission is GIVEN, from a point of strength, something that so many people, even when they are biologically much older, seem unaware of, or incapable of seeing or learning...  there is nothing "soft" or "submissive" in Claire, but there is someone who appreciates, probably even craves structure, discipline, and some of the things that a dominant, a mature and understanding one, could offer in addition to what she already has in her life.

So much understanding from Ethan, so much awareness of the needs of safety, conversation, planning, limit setting, so many things that people seem so often unaware of...  again, it speaks to maturity beyond the age I would normally associate with a student at higher education.  It speaks to years of learning, seeing, and being taught...

But looking past this, we have two people who seem remarkably well suited to each other, to starting to explore something together, and see where it leads...

To the author, many thanks for posting the links!  If I ever get caught up on my reading list backlog *snort* I shall have to have a look, since this is captivating, fascinating, and something quite special in the making!
