Tricked by a witch

Hey. Anyone remember a story where a man finds a woman bricked up behind a wall, and she convinces him to take her place having possibly feminised him, and eventually tricks him. She can't leave he house until he ties himself to the house forever. Something like that. Possibly a witch. Can't even think where to start as searching witch is a bit broad!
