Loved the story, the switch between the two with Mellisa becoming the maidbot, the peril of Beryl making the transformation permanent. And then the final twist in the story was perfect.

I am left with slightly mixed feelings honestly.  I love the imagery here, the colours and feel of the magic, the fight between her human nature and the programming rules...  so much here to delight in!

Yet for all of this, the characters all felt a bit cold, self indulgent perhaps, which they certainly are, given the setting and situation.  I loved the spectacle, worried about the transformation becoming permanent, yet never really connected with or cared about any of the characters.

The final twist was very well done, somewhat obvious after the fact, but somehow I just didn't see that coming, and what is a Halloween story without a twist?
