For clarity, for readers and authors alike, my policy is to put that tag on any stories that feature characters who are closely related in scenes with a sexual aspect (which, let's be frank, is pretty much every story on this site ). Tags serve two purposes, they allow readers interested in particular content to find it, but they also allow readers who do not like particular content to avoid things that are not to their tastes.

I can't think of any story that's been submitted during my tenure that was deliberately aiming for the incest category in the way that, say, the stories in the Literotica category are. But for some it is a sensitive subject and I do not want any reader to feel ambushed by content they weren't expecting and won't enjoy. The content of this story wouldn't fit the dictionary definition of an incestuous relationship, but I think that semantic distinction is unlikely to make those who are uncomfortable with the taboo to feel any better about it. So I will err on the side of caution on this front.

For Clarity
I understand the reasons for tags, and I like them, but how about not ambushing the writer with this type of tag, an e-mail or something informing them the intent of tagging in a certain way would help them if, Like me they find the tag is making them out to be writing something they might find as offensive.
I do not write about things I find offensive, children, incest, animal play.
If that was going to be the tag then I would have requested the story not be put on the site.

Sorry if it felt like I was ambushing you with it, I don't apply tags with any sort of judgement implied towards the author or the content. I don't personally find the topic particularly offensive or troublesome so it didn't occur to me to treat it specially when it comes to warning the author that I was putting it on. If you'd prefer the story not be up with that tag on it that's absolutely up to you, would you like me to take it down?
