Could you perhaps post the first few paragraphs of the story here? Nothing springs up obviously in a web search using keywords from the title as you've stated it here. I can't find any sites that mention an author with that name, nor stories with "Mariko" in the title, even though it's a fairly unique search term. But sometimes there can be unique phrases in the text itself that can be searched for instead.

Also, if there's any hint in the portion of the story you do have as to websites it might have been posted in the past, that might allow a search in the Internet Archive for those sites, even if it's no longer currently up on those sites. E.g. if the parts you have mention a usenet group.
