Interesting start. Is her backstory will ever be revealed?
(story "Wiped clean" by Orestes comes to mind)

The title was unique enough to make me want to discover it's meaning, and while I've only read the first part I have to say it's a wonderful tale. Not the future I'd want for society and all of that, but something that could easily happen anyway. Disposable inconvenient people given a government assigned "career" to pay their way in life, and probably enough state surveillance and tracking of it's "citizens/subjects" to make running away impractical.

I look forward to reading part two today, but I just wanted to say thank you for sharing, Jackie.
