I was a close, close friend of Dave Simpson for several years. He was responsible for me being introduced to the wonderful world of bondage. Last year we lost touch, He drifted away from me and fell into a state of utter despair as a result of seeing his website business destroyed by the whole nature of the internet stealing everything he'd worked on. In the last months of knowing him I saw him slowly being torn apart by the thieves who thought it was OK to ruin his hard work.
Last week I got a call from his sister who told me he had taken his own life.
I felt it appropriate for me to pass on this news to anyone wo thought him important in the world of bondage.
Feel free to pass this message on.

Thank you for letting us know. Sad news indeed. He was one of the greats. I had no idea what happened to him but unfortunately it can't be a surprise.

The advent of Tumblr and the like have obviously cut into the commercial end of our hobby. I enjoy free stuff as much as anybody but somebody has to pay the models and riggers, do the photography, etc. If no one wants to pay for the finished product it makes you wonder where the pictures of the future will come from. Amateur pix are fun but nothing beats a well rigged and professionally photographed model.

Dave Simpson is definitely going to be missed.  I've been a fan for some time, and I've always enjoyed the high quality work.  I'm worry to hear of the loss, and even more sorry to hear of your loss of a good and dear friend.
The more I look, the more I see.
The more I see, the more I learn.
The more I learn, the more I know.
The more I know, the less I understand.
The less I understand, the more I look.

Thank you Mistrussed for passing on the sad news, Dave was a great guy as well as a wonderful photographer, he helped host the plaza for sometime and paid for the domain and everything. I am deeply saddened by him taking his own life, it's such a shocking waste, I would have loved to have met him but that's never going to happen now.

Another bondage icon passes into the sunset - RIP Dave.

His work is amazing and inspiring.  I'm sorry to hear he was so distressed that he took his own life.

emmasbound

Sorry to hear about Dave's passing.
I was a member of his site for a while and liked his pictures. It's such a shame but very ironic that now he will be remembered for ever by people viewing his work on the "free" sites rather than on his own websites. I am sorry that he felt that he needed to take his life as a result of others actions. Rest in peace Dave.

Would there be a way to set an "In Memorium" section on the Forum for the riggers, photographers and models we have all enjoyed that are no longer here, so we can keep their spirit alive in some way?

There is no cure for Merinthophilia. Once you've got it, you're stuck with it for life.

So so very sad to hear,
I was a great fan of dave Simpson, even exchanged a few e mails with him
His words to me were very inspirational in the early days of my modeling and I would have loved to have modeled for him

Yes unfortunately the bondage community has lost a wonderful inspirational man.

And as has been said the community is going through a rough time with pay sites struggling to make ends meat to share there visions with us all.

I was recently staying with a website owner modeling for him and to hear how little subscribers he has now, how much he makes and how long it takes to make the money back paying for shoots with models like me.

Makes me sad, I don't charge a great dear for my modeling services but nature of the beast is we all need to make some kind of living and with so much plagiarism out there now

It's tough

RIP Dave you will be missed by so many that loved you and your work

There is a section on the Forum for Links ... would it be possible to include links to the various pay sites that would enable people like me who don't know of people like Dave to at least have a reference point to access and support these people. It may not be much but it might just help others to not have to go through what Dave went through?

Hi Nicholr4142,

The links tab on the main Plaza page includes many pay sites. The best method of support is to become a paying member of sites you like or purchase individual videos and photo sets at sites like Clips4sale.
