Normally I would not comment if I didn't finish the story, but this time I am making an exception.

I find myself torn between awe at the skilful depiction of Lisa, our central...  well, is "idiot" the right word?  Torn between awe at how wilfully ignorant and bull headed she is, paired with just wanting to cover my eyes so the stupidity will no longer be visible

I want to say no one can be this stupid, but I am quite aware the world seems to be strangely full of people who seem to believe that the culture and views they grew up with will "of course" apply anywhere and everywhere they go, and they have no need to even consider the local laws, rules and customs, since clearly they just don't apply to them...

The story is well told, an easy read, and Lisa, our central woman, makes all to much sense.  I do wonder what on earth possessed her husband to marry such an air head, but I assume it was the traditional answer of someone being attracted to something exotic, and thinking with his dick.

So it is no shock or surprise that everything came crashing down around Lisa's ears.  Talk about asking for it!
