Happy New Year, Happy New Forum

Sorry to anyone who was trying to access the forums over the past couple of hours, you will have found them in various states of disrepair, while I was shifting them over to the latest version of the forum software. The version we were running was well out of support, and it was getting to the stage where it was interfering with my ability to upgrade other parts of the site to keep them secure.

I think almost everything (see below for the exceptions) is back to working order now, but I fully expect some teething troubles over the next few days and weeks, so please do post here if you find things aren't working as you expect. If the worst happens and you can't even do that (because your ability to log in / post is broken) then please email me at support@grometsplaza.net.

Given the errors I had to work around, I have a suspicion that attachments and/or avatars may have issues. I can't see any immediate problems with avatars, those who I know had avatars still seem to have them. But despite the files still being available on the server, the forum is insistent that the attachments on posts are all gone.  I suspect that there's not much I can easily do about that, sadly.

Anyway, I hope everyone is able to celebrate the new year, and here's to a productive and happy 2025 for everyone!

What about direct messages? I don't see a way to access them or send one to other members like before. I can go to members and still send one but no access to old stuff.


Nevermind there is an envelope up top for it. Not used to those icons

It's definitely less intuitive when you're in the list of messages, but I can get to my existing messages from the top of the page (and my profile page). It took me ages to find the generic "send new message" button from your Inbox, it's only available from the Messages drop down which is not obvious at all.

The icon for the account at the top left isn't displaying and the middle icon is for the direct messages and alerts for the bell.
