A 'dreams made true' story

There was a story where a woman booked time at a resort, where she was continually humiliated. About the only major thing I can remember is there was something she could use to get out (a chess piece?), and when she finally wanted to use it, it retracted away from her. I think the room also had a large window for other 'guests' to observe her.
