Although I'm not a big fan of most recent BBC TV shows this story was inspired by watching a short mini-series, "Howard's End" (the name of a manor), set in the Edwardian era in Britain.  Regardless of content, I do admire the few times a movie or TV show delivers outstanding art direction, in this case the costumes and background settings.
