Jack,
Great story really enjoyed.  In part two i could easily imagine the institutional restraints.. I have some of the humane restraints so this story really came alive for me.

Some of the 19th century medical devices designed to treat mental illness rival the Inquisition for the ingenuity in how they work.

The Prop Room series was inspired by a very brief stint in the real world, making a few electronic props for a Hollywood studio.  I picked up a few of the studio mogul stories from the 30s and 40s, even saw one of the hidden rooms on the studio lot.  A tiny bit of that lore also shows up in the series.

Fun and cheerful, a welcome light hearted departure from super heavy noncon or reluctant domination. Yet it still had an edge as Riordan grappled with his personal inclinations and Darlene contemplated the meaning of her own surrender.
