Ah, automated cleaning bots. One of my favorite concepts. Thanks for the story, 64Fordman! Her predicament was fun to read about.
Even if it was inspired by the New York Post.

Great story! Thanks for sharing

Thank you Trash girl, superdude103194 and alsrx700.

Excellent story! I like the short ones and this has everything with minimal words.
Well done!

Thanks Max,
I wanted to write a 1000 word story. Went a few over but I’m still satisfied with it. Glad you liked it.

This was a fun and thrilling tale with a happy (and pithy) ending. Well done, and thank you for posting, 64Fordman

Thank you Malus, I’m glad you liked it. I hope you have more stories in the works.

I have some in the works.
I've been in a massive creative slump/gradually deepening hole of depression since getting my grad degree, so I need to work some of that out before I can really settle into writing. But thank you for the encouragement!

A wonderful read. Thanks for sharing it with us! ^-^

I'll join the choir of applauses - this is an excellent story: Catches the reader, it's probable (even if still, I hope, a bit futuristic), no real harm done and the mess I like about trash-stories. 1000 words? That's pretty clever to do such a story in so few words.

Thank you TeaSer, it was an experiment to see what I could do with a thousand word limit. The story got a generous amount of feedback, and from the gracious comments was well received by readers. Including elements that visitors to the trash and machine sections have said they like to see in a story didn’t hurt either I’m sure.

I can't believe I forgot to post a reply to this Fordman. Really nice story. I enjoy 'machine's going awry' stories. I keep trying to think of some, but everything seems to be covered that I can come up with. I guess that's why I had to design Synthia instead of a failed 'receiving warehouse' or something of the sort.
Anyway, wonderful story with a lot of happenings in such a short format. Great Job!

Thanks Dana, I’m glad you enjoyed it, and I know what you mean. Machine stories are my favorite so you would think I’d have written more of them, but so many of the things I am interested in have been done so well by others it’s hard to come up with new ideas, or at least new ways of telling old ideas since there are no new ideas.

You're Welcome Fordman.
Yep...it's a mousetrap Fordman...very difficult to better upon the old 'spring-bar' style of the old ones.
-
Gotta say. I really enjoyed this. It shows that we can't have machines do everything. And now i'm wishing they did so I could sit on the floor of a shop and be "cleaned up". Obviously without the binds because I'd want to go after.

Thank you for the kind feedback Rosapetal, I’m glad you enjoyed the story.
