I like reading machine stories here at the Plaza, a close second is finding a good scene in a movie or television show. I would like to hear about yours. Here are a few of mine.
Being laundered is a popular topic here, so first up is a scene from Moonlighting, an 80's detective show starring Bruce Willis. The secretary Agnes DiPesto, played by Alice Beasley, gets trapped in an automatic laundry.

Maybe not exactly what you're looking for, but the "Special Delivery" episode of Rugrats is what first made me realize I was into this stuff.

Tons of conveyor belts, mechanical arms, scanning lasers, even some real peril at the end.
Thanks Superdude103194, great clip. The AH-HA moment is always memorable. Hard to pin mine down, in my day Saturday mornings were filled with the great Republic Serials from the 30's and 40's along with cartoons like Scooby-Doo, Underdog, and Rocky and Bullwinkle.
We were inundated with images like your Rugrats clip, but it was probably the Republic Serials, live action shorts originally shown in movie theaters before the feature film and always ending with a cliffhanger. Most often it was the hero, or his love interest, on a conveyor slowly moving toward some horrible fate. They would be rescued at the beginning of the next installment, capture the villain, and after a quick embrace start a new adventure.
the "Special Delivery" episode of Rugrats was also what made me realize I had a thing for machines.
There was another cartoon called Angry Beavers that had an episode called "Box Top Beavers" where the characters ended up sending themselves to a cereal factory to try and get a prize. One of them ends up in the machinery: https://youtu.be/9_LSNOgTHzk?t=7m57s (couldn't find a better clip that wasn't on a suspicious site)
I've sort of always liked the cartoony side of machinery, I think it was probably because cartoons were my first time ever really seeing it :p
Thanks Blarg, I like that. Cartoons were great for their ability to show things not possible with live action. Here's a couple of oldies.
From 1967. Tom and Jerry in Cannery Rodents

In this short from 1937, Donald Duck gets caught in various machines in the Modern Inventions museum. It's interesting to see how the future is depicted during the dark days of the depression.

the automated wrapping machine is great. I could see that as part of a longer process where someone is wrapped up at the very end of a long line of machinery
of course as someone who quite enjoys diapers the automated nursery machine is something I like the idea of too, though I prefer conveyor belts and such over robots :p
Thanks Laundering by woman, all good clips. Here's a washing machine scene from the 1990 movie Ernest Goes to Jail.

This is just one of many 'dryer riding' and washing machine videos on Youtube.
Hope you enjoy.
Daffy
Thanks for posting it Daffy. They're a lot of videos where peoples ride a dryer on youtube, but this is one of the best. I like the woman reaction. She looks likes pity for him, in a first time. But she's laughting a moment later, and ending with; "Do you want some water?"
I am glad you liked it.

Woman gets in dog washing machine at a pet spa.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpWAuhQZ7n8
Cute, but a bit corny. Why the flippers and snorkel again lady? Gotta love the dramatization in 'reality' TV. I also hate to inform her that the dog is not nervous about the audition...she is.
Sorry for what seems to be a knock against your post Fordman...it's the producers of Lifetime I'm kicking...not you.
Dana
No offence taken. I have no idea what that show was, don't watch Lifetime.
There are many dog washing machine videos around, they inspired my first Sue & Ali story, so it was only a matter of time before somebody got in one I guess.
I don't watch it either. The title of the video said it was Lifetime's 'Off the Leash'.
If there is one thing good about people taking the lazy way out of washing their pet pooch, it's that it inspired a great story about Sue & Ali's adventure.
Another pet spa, this time a guy tries the automatic dog washing machine. (35 bucks, are they serious?)

Here is a Donald Duck cartoon from 1940 titled Donald's Dog Laundry, of course Donald builds a machine to do the work, and Pluto makes sure Donald is the first customer. Walt Disney must have been one of us.

Finally, the Three Stooges use an automatic dog washer for their pet grooming business.
