HI All,
Well as you can see the forum is gone, all of the posts have been destroyed as the server used to host it has gone kaput.
We have unfortunatele to notify your about a MySQL1096 database losst of your Webhosting content.
We unfortunately had to face a total loss of the entire MySQL1096 device that also stores your account data due to a corrupted RAID array, that is caused by the failure of multiple harddisk in it.
The Harddisks are unfortunately not accessable anymore, so we cant make any attempts to recover the array.
We are very sorry about this issue and kindly ask you to create new database and import your backup.
The Storage content and E-Mails are NOT affected by this loss, as the data are stored on different systems.
I'm trying to find a backup... but well it was on my list to do...
No nice news today...
Do we cause problems with possible backups if we use our old user names?
No it looks like everyone will have to re-register anyway.
Always look at the bright side ......
Now we got ourselves a lightweight forum with only fresh meat for thought and imagination. Just a pity the newcommers might have been scared.
I'm sorry for the loss of all the interesting content and of course for all the work Gromet has to do to get it back up, but as TeaSer already noted it's an opportunity to start over. A forum like this is mostly about interchange between the members and as such is mostly about what's going on right now. No need to mourn what's lost. Let's get started on some juicy new subjects.
Also, now I don't have to wonder if there's something great way back in the archives that I've missed.
Truly a catastrophe, but at least we can have fun building up anew Forum.
Gromet,
Not that there is any humor to be found here with this, but sometimes when a ship is replaced by a better or newer one they call it a "II" to honor the original, as in Nautilus II. Should we therefore call this new forum the Forum II?
Jackie.
yes Jackie, just like an update from Apple - you have to install the whole thing all over again. >:(
Well I've taken advantage of the new start to change my name anyway (I was Tank but now I'm going by the feminine name Mistress gave me).
Thanks Gromet for everything you do and getting it all back up and running again so quickly.

Please, Gromet! We don't want updates in this as fast as Apple does! One crash in 10 years is more than enough :P
I am sorry that you have had all this hassle Gromet, The new forum will gives folks a chance to start again.

Hey just remember, things could've been worse.
I'm going to cry. :'(
~Mrs. Locks~
Hi Gromet.
I am surprised the bloody IT wankers didn't come back to you with "Turn your PC off and restart your computer" or "It's down to User error"
Sorry to hear its all crashed and burned.

Like a phoenix from the ashes, the Forum has already risen.
We can make it better and stronger than before.
Long live the new Forum.
Well sometimes a fresh start can be a good thing.
I hope you have better luck with the current server, and this forum gets back to being busy again...
I am happy to see the forum back up and running.
I think I am with Mrs Locks on this issue.
Whilst we are all putting on a brave face and saying it is a new start; I will mourn the loss of the old Forum pages and the love people have shown over the years.
I don't deal with change well either !
Daffy stuck in the mud, Duck.
I too don't like changeing but i can't hide away from it either so get out of the mud daffy this is a good opportunity to start over ;)
Nope.
Hmmmm - maybe this is a plot?
Daffy reading stories when suddenly the Forum disappears and his room is converted into a mudfilled pit on a large field. Only the head, one hand and a notepad is out of the mud, and Daffy describes the emotions running through him being all stuck in the muddy pit. At some later time, a trash girl comes by - taking the notepad and posting his scriblings as a new story.
TeaSer
i don't see how that chould happen TeaSer seeing i don't make stories sure i have helped daffy with some ideas but it's his work not mine
I might wish I was a woman's magazine or a black polythene bag, or caught inside such items, but I never dream of mud.
Not even two girls mud wrestling in loose T shirts and satin knickers, says TeaSer.
That would be telling. Says Daffy !
Time for an old saying.
Have you tried turning it off and on again
5 points to whoever can name the show
Have you checked that it's plugged in?

Have you checked that it's plugged in?
- Nope, I can't see the wire in the back,
- Could you turn on some light?
-Neither, there is a power outage!
Is it turned on?
Great to see so many people back here already :D. The show must go on! Too bad u guys got the old server so horny it finally exploded. And without permission too! Bad server, bad. Gromet, please put a chastity cage on the new one so we don't have this problem again :P
The previous two posts made me grin :)
Thanks for the smiles
OK who sneezed in the back room and made the dust cloud.
Must unfortunate. No doubt a better backup retention policy will now be employed...

I got IT on the first guess. Can I redeem my points? Should there be a crowd?
Yup, the old forum server was definitely running on Vista. We are ALL going to die!
On a serious note, thank you Gromet yet again for having the plaza. It would be a much colder world for me without it, and I am eternally grateful for your work. Stuff crashes -- sigh. The Plaza is still here - sigh of relief!

I'm sorry about what happened to the forum. At least all stories are still there. It would e a realy shame if those would get lost. Rebuild a forum and add new feedback links is just a little problem.
Hi everyone, I just wanted to point out that the old forum is partially preserve by the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. You can browse here: https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://grometsplaza.net/forum/* (https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://grometsplaza.net/forum/*)
