Thank you everyone for the kind words! This took about 9 months to write, so it's heartening to see that people are reading and enjoying it!
I do have some good news. I have already written chapter 7, and about 1/3 of chapter 8. The next "part" will be composed of 5 chapters, so I am hopeful that it will not take another 9 months :)
I was worried that the pace would be too slow... I'm not going to "rush" ahead, but things will happen a bit more now that the intro is done.

I'm currently halfway through chapter 10. Once chapter 11 is done, I will begin final revisions and then submit this next arc of the story (chapter 7-11). I don't have a firm deadline (it's a hobby!) but I'm pretty sure it won't be 9 months for the 2nd arc. Feeling motivated and full of ideas!
In fact the "full of ideas" is a challenge - hard to focus on one chapter when your mind is already 10 ahead. But it's coming! :)

I just wanted to say thank you for this story, which I've read five times since August. I love long stories that progress slowly and don't fall into the vulgar. We really get attached to the character, and seeing Judith blossom in her new job and River is really enjoyable. I'm looking forward to seeing how she will investigate the institute after this experience, and maybe know what happened to the previous inspector, who the Baron was, etc.

Thank you so much for the feedback! Things have been progressing slower than expected (the end of chapter 11 is proving harder than I expected, with no clear reason why) but they are coming.
I'm happy to report that chapter 11 is now done. It will take a bit more time, but I am hopeful that Tome 2 will be published soon!
While stuck on chapter 11, I wrote chapter 12 and part of 13. Tome 3 will probably have 7 chapters. So yup, the story is nowhere finished, although I already know how it's going to end :)

Thank you! When I started writing this, I wasn't sure if the story would appeal to anyone, but it's been very motivating to see that yes, others "get" it.
Tome 2 is now "officially" in the publication pipeline - I know there is a queue so it may take a few weeks, but it's coming!

I took a break after finishing tome 3, but I'm making progress on tome 4. Chapter 19 is 95% written, I've written a few pages of chapter 20 last night. Chapter 20 is perhaps the darkest one in the entire series, and it's not easy writing.
Chapter 25 (mild spoiler), of which I have also written a few pages) is a *Halloween* episode, so I hope I will have it ready for this year's Halloween publications :D

It's narrated by a different character, with less knowledge of the Insistute, so it should be easier for a new reader to "get" the story. I don't want to miss this year's Halloween stories publication on here, so it might come out before the rest of tome 4. Chapter 19 and 20 are already written, but I don't think I can manage to finish chapters 21-24 in time. So this fall is the most precise I can be.

An update. I clearly missed the halloween release, but I have been inching forward. I now have written 15 K words in Tome 4, and I'm past the halfway mark ... not great progress, but it's progress. I wrote 3 pages this week so far.
I should also mention that I've also written 9 k words in tome 5, so hopefully that one will go a bit faster! But the main factor is how well the words flow. It was going great for tome 3, not so much now.

This has got to be one of my favorite series. The story is structured and feels like it is real , happening .... the characters are great and there keep have new layers added both of mystery and eroticism.
Fantasy stories are great too but having it based in potential reality makes it more immersive.

You aren't 100% wrong about tome 4 being an "end", as it is the "end" of the first "half" of this story. After this, the pacing will change (each tome was about a week, tome 5 will cover the period between Halloween and mid-winter, so about 4 months), and new narrators will sometimes take over.
How long will it take? I don't know. Tome 5 is already 50% written. Tome 3 took 3 months, tome 4 took over a year, so it's hard to give firm prediction - I didn't expect tome 4 to take so long!

Thank you for your kind words! I have been striving for a certain level of realism, both in my characters being real people and in the kink being plausible, at least somewhat. This is why I was very hesitant to introduce Nadia, as her "snake trick" is well, not realistic at all (she shows up again in Tome 4 :) )
There are still a few more layers coming! It will all be resolved in tome 7 :D

I have really enjoyed the time you have spent exploring the character's relationship with kink. It's something that I honestly never realised I would've loved so much but, it's now become the main reason I keep wanting to read more. I love getting to see how Judith explores her sexuality, identity and the shame associated with it.
I am very eagerly awaiting the release of the new chapters and I can't wait to hear more about the secret Halloween costumes.

Writing a "big" story (this might end up being a novel) is challenging on many levels, and one of them is holding your readers' attention, especially when it's not released all at once (I'm not done ha!). So if you, not a fan of big stories, devoured it, clearly I'm doing *something* right.
This story is, in a way, a "reaction" to other stories I have read (art is never created in a vacuum). And while some writers were definitely positive influences (Erika Moak and Tiggerstretch specifically for this story), others served as example of what *not* to do. And one of these things to avoid are characters devoid of interiority, or who suddenly just "do" things that seem implausible, out of character. People who's behaviour is as unrealistic as wearing latex 24/7.
When one creates characters with feelings, goals, opinions, as a writer it can be a constraint. There are a few things I had planned for my story but then I realized "wait a minute, Judith wouldn't do that!" and I had to change the story as a result. But in another way this is good because in a way the characters "guide" the writer - writing becomes a process of discovery at time, and it can result in a story that feels more "true".

You've touched on something important - it is "ok" in stories to have unrealistic things, as long as it makes "sense". What I find very wearisome is the view by some that if the story has sci-fi/fantasy elements, then *anything goes*. Just because a wizard can cast a fireball doesn't mean that suddenly people don't need food, for example. (And if there *is* a wizard in the background casting summon hot-dogs, then it should be mentioned!).
The other thing for me is that find the "edge" of possible to be a very interesting place. Sure you can't wear latex 24/7. But what if you took a few breaks during the day? You can't be in latex TE 24/7 but you could be in TE (almost) 24/7 if you switch materials... etc etc. I find this can make some things "hotter" conceptually, by trying to get both the benefits of "heavy/over the top" scenes and realism.

But I would like to point out something in the last published chapter.
"La draga bianco" is wrong.
You can go for "il drago bianco" it's male but it's closer to standard Italian
Or ,if you want to keep the female gender, "la dragonessa bianca" (I believe that this fits more for the story)

In italian animals are usually gendered as male unless they can be easily differentiated at a glance.
The taurus and the cow are respectively male and female but the dog is usually referred to as male (even by the owner) mostly because the female variant tends to be derogatory.
"draga" while tecnically correct is practicaly unheard off, it is more commonly used "dragonessa" dragoness.
if you ask most people what a "draga" is will most likely answer a dredge ship (a ship used to excavate soil from the bottom of ports and canals)
lastly "bianco" is the male abjective for white, while "bianca" is the female version.
