Love the start of this story. Cannot believe how naive this human can be. I am looking forward to many chapters to this stories topic. Thanx again, Melissa

You could go almost anywhere with this tale, and I'm curious to see where you take this. I am of course interested to see what else that collar can do, just as I am the metalic hairweave, wondering if either, or both form some kind of human control system. In this world you've created I also wonder where maidbots come from, as in are they repurposed, electronically-controlled human stock, or are they truly mechanical beings.

Thank you for sharing, Jackie.

Having finished part 2 I am intrigued, and curious as to where this might go.  Not sure I would call this sexy yet, but there is a lot of interest value, and the actual maid bot has just shown its self, her self, to be a lot more intelligent and crafty than expected, turning up like that.

So having both of them out and about, mixing their identities and roles, I am most curious to see if there is a destination in mind yet for this fascinating concept :)

This has taken an intersting turn with the maidbot attending the party also. Definetly a role reversal. I'm looking forward to part 3.

I very much enjoyed the adventure, and the "be careful what you wish for..." theme. I wonder if there's a new market for organic maidbots, perhaps unit 734-B the first of a new series of machines, but of course somebody, or something, will have to take Melissa's place in the human world for a few days at least.

Thanks for sharing, Jackie.

Part 3 is definitely interesting, and is taking things in a new and fun direction!  I do get the strong feeling that there is going to be more to this servicing the mother in law than the simple description suggests!  Definitely feels like an old rival who is really up to something... but what?  :)

I loved the perpetuation of this service for Melissa, the adroit trap that was set, but I also wonder how Melissa's husband will react when he finds out that she has a job now. I can't help but to wonder if Nicole was happy to have somebody else there to deal with the mother in law for a while, or for that matter if the two "ladies" had conspired to prolong Melissa's service like this, Nicole's shock at the collar not coming off just part of the act for her.

Are maidbots a status symbol in this world that you've created, and if so do both ladies like having one, maybe even enough to purchase her "contract" from her husband, who may or may not already have somebody else in mind as a replacement wife? Maybe he suspects she has a lover on the side, and her emergency is visiting with that man, or even woman I suppose. I can't imagine that in this futuristic world that being out of phone-range is plausible, so this must be curious and throw up some red flags for Melissa's husband.

Speaking of husbands, I'm surprised that Nicole's didn't take advantage of the robotic servant for a bit of oral relief for himself at a bare minimum, even if he did realize that this was a human playing a part here.

So much fun, so many possible directions to take this, thank you again for sharing, Jackie.

Part 4 is definitely interesting, and a good read.  The sense of helplessness, anger, bitterness and hatred that our maid is feeling is very well shown and conveyed.  It makes quite the contrast from some maid-bot stories, where the maid is enjoying and revelling in her roll and position.

In a way this is more natural and reasonable, while still being quite surprising and fresh.

The husband surprised me, so clearly looking like he was planning on something most wicked with the new maid-bot, but then no further sign.  Perhaps the mother being in the house was the reason for his backing off.

The mother in law, Eleanor, is a surprise though.  A mixture of being supportive, understanding, and down right manipulative and cruel.  She was also rather unclear on actually releasing the collar after this coming weekend.  Events do just keep on going don't they!

I enjoy the changing roles here, the manipulation too. It appears that Mellissa's husband has something going on the side with his secretary, and I'd find it especially amusing and ironic if all involved conspired to keep Melissa in the maidbot role going forward. One electronic slave freed, all in exchange for a human one given a proper purpose in life, as well as kept out of the way. Perhaps there's even a growing market for human maidbots, and all of them can become obscenely wealthy with Melissa's kink expanded to include other inconvenient wives. There are just so many wonderful options for the next chapters...

Thank you for sharing, Jackie.

Part 5 flows, but I read most of it wondering where this was going, and with a growing sadness in my heart.  I found myself really connecting with Ursula, feeling for her, admiring what she was doing and achieving, celebrating each and every one of her steps, of her triumphs!

Watching her grow and blossom like this really was so precious, so wonderful.  I did wonder what was going on with her husband, as Jackie said, the phone message really does feel like it said a lot more than the words alone, and that it was a sense of secret being shared between two women, and an agreement happening to keep the wife out of the loop, and to avoid "bothering" her with things that she simply didn't need to know about, or think about.

This certainly suggests that our husband is going to be open to being away a lot, or to seeing his wife as a less important person in his life, which is going to make things a lot easier.

I felt sad because I was concerned that all of Ursula's growth as a thinking and feeling being was going to be snuffed out, like a candle going out, at the end of the three days.  I was hoping some way could be found to allow her periodic time as a human, even if is only being done by her and the wife swapping their roles now and then.

But the ending...  suddenly so much hope, but also such massive wickedness looms on the horizon!  There seems to be a really deep vein of wickedness in both Eleanor and Nicole.  It isn't said, but there is something in the tone of all of this that says that getting Melissa to agree to spend more time as a maid bot was less a polite agreement and more of a forced issue.

So presenting Melissa with Ursula as an honoured and respected human guest at the party, while she is a maid bot...  well, the emotional impact of that is going to be very significant!

This part was so well written, and raises some really big questions about who is alive, who deserves to be treated as alive, and what their future holds.

I like the power dynamic here, the "this isn't going how I thought it might" loss of control. Maybe James the husband is a bit starved for attention, and Ursula's attention is enough for him to overlook her non-human attributes. This of course doesn't say much for Melissa, but sometimes the one telling the story is oblivious to their own shortcomings...

So many possibilities, thanks for sharing, Jackie.

Part 6 is quite the read, its actually quite chilling, if that makes sense.  At the same time, there were moments at the start when I actually wanted to slap Melissa for being so silly!  I realise, and realised even in the moment that I was probably being a bit harsh with her, but here she is, being asked to choose between some embarrassment, and handing control of her freedom, ownership of her as a "slave" to the household computer, and she is quite clear, time and time again, that the risk of her little game being exposed is one of the worst things that could possibly happen to her!

Given this, there is a sense that Melissa is causing her own punishment and torment, since she cannot get herself out of this mess, a mess that she was quite eager to get into in the first place.

Then Ursula having to reach out to Eleanor and get her to agree to help...  for all that the household computer has taken over emergency, and immediate control of Melissa, its actually quite clear that her ongoing "owner" is still Eleanor, who shows no interest at all in releasing Melissa!

Watching how James visibly brightened, and lost all interest in pursuing the interesting question of why his wife was wearing a collar was...  I am not quite sure how to describe my thoughts and feelings here, but there was a certain romantic sadness at work.  It painted a fairly clear picture of a tired man who is no longer excited by his home or his wife, but one who is very taken by an attractive lady.

You can say it was simply "polite conversation", but it comes across very much as James showing a lot of interest and desire in another woman, desire and interest that is simply not being directed at his wife.  You can make various valid and reasonable excuses for this, but overall, the clear sense is of a man who has quite limited desire and interest in his wife, which fits very well with the image of a man having, a quite probably long running affair.

The overall sense is very clearly of the jaws of the "trap" closing in on Melissa, and her having no real way out.  Her supposed ally, her own maid bot, is no ally at all, and there is a real sense that Ursula is now going to be actively working towards keeping Melissa as a maidbot, trapping her more firmly, and making sure her husband doesn't do anything to upset her new lot in life!

Waiting with baited breath for part 7... It's interesting how nobody seems to care for our heroin at all. And with Ursula free of her programming, it looks like everybody will live happily ever after... except for our new-minted maidbot of course.

Thank you so much for your patience and for reaching out! I sincerely apologize for the delay, but I'm happy to report that the next part of the story is supposed to go up this week.

In the meantime, you might enjoy my Halloween story, The Witch-Bot (https://grometsplaza.net/special/halloween25/campfire/witchbot.html). It's a standalone read that also tells the story of a woman who swaps places with her maidbot.

Great chapter, I love the deepening of the role reversal this time. I can't imagine Ursula and Unit 734-B will make it through the weekend without that rift growing larger. Thanks!

Your Halloween story was also fun- keep up ths great work!

The latest part (#7) should be "reluct", like the previous parts.
"Cons" alone seems quite incorrect to me.

Or better even "nc" by now - after all, with snippets like these:

"amplifying her despair", "painful reminder of Melissa's fractured life and deepening entrapment", "The irony was a bitter pill: her forced servitude, her humiliation,", "a stark reminder of her forced servitude", etc.

Thank you, Sir, for reaching out. I apologize for the mistake and will ask the site owner if the 'cons' tag could possibly be replaced by the 'reluct' tag.

But I don't think the 'nc' tag should apply here, because the heroine's situation in part 7 is her own doing and was not imposed on her: she is the one who gave away her freedom by willingly accepting her transformation into a maidbot and letting herself be collared (in part 1), by willingly accepting Eleanor as the owner of her collar (in part 4) and by willingly accepting to transfer emergency control of her collar to the home computer (in part 6).

This has been changed now. Each part is edited and tagged on its own merits, and on the readthrough I did the overwhelming vibe, aside from those few lines quoted, is the protagonist has settled into their new role and has come to accept it. You can argue it both ways of course but I'm happy to take Melissa's steer on which side to land on. 'nc' is, clearly not the right fit, there is no real active resistance here in this chapter, and the path by which they got to this place in previous chapters is not relevant to the tagging for this chapter.

I very much appreciate the depth of this plot, the depth of emotions as well. Perhaps Clarissa and James will require an organic maid-bot of their own one day, such would certainly allow James to keep his wealth, without sharing it with Melissa in some sort of legal separation.

If Melissa can't explain her unique enslavement, does Eleanor, at some point, have to explain things to James instead, perhaps the two having a little "human" negotiation themselves while discussing Melissa's fate, so maybe shared custody of the Melissa maid-bot? Dose Eleanor embellish that tale, suggesting she begged for this, all while Melissa stands there listening, under the control of the collar, so not able to contradict her owner?

I also wonder if that's the moment Melissa snaps, as in she just gives up and stops fighting the collar, stops fighting the reality that she's a better maid-bot than she ever was a human. I'd expect her to break at some point anyway; so to me it's maybe a little like training horses, conditioning them to follow the lead of their human masters?

All that being said, James does sound like a piece of work himself, so all this isn't on Melissa alone. Does James learn from his past mistakes though, and does Melissa get to watch James 2.0 treat Clarissa like she wished she'd been treated, or by some twist of fate Ursula?

Thanks for sharing, Jackie.

I am unsure what I think and feel about part 7.  As a self confessed, and proud, soppy romantic, it isn't really happy or romantic, or really all that sexy.  But, having said that, it is very well written, deeply thoughtful, and makes a lot of very interesting points!

We are almost getting philosophical about human nature here, about what it is to be human, how you find and achieve purpose and happiness...

I agree with Jackie, that the ending really is raising some quite pointed questions about James, and how involved, how invested in this relationship he is.  I am not that inclined to be sympathetic towards James, but trying to be fair, he has just produced, what is by the sounds of it, a *staggeringly* expensive gift for his wife, something that she has dreamed of, and lusted after for years...  and in the face of this incredible gift, this epic "I love you" gesture, she is dismissive...  doesn't really offer or give him anything to explain why she cannot accept it, is suddenly not interested in it...

Trying to build a good overall mental picture of things here, we have James who works all the time, works hard, brings home work, to provide a good standard of living for his wife.  Then we have his wife, Melissa, who just glides through life board, uninterested, unmotivated, not really appreciating what she has, or engaging with things...

It does beg the question of how much they have in common, how much life and passion is left in their relationship.

Now, we see the collar and the house computer enforcing her silence, making her keep her secret, but I am sure, from memory, that before now it has just been shame, embarrassment, a need not to make a fool of herself that kept Melissa silent.  So much of this is a trap and a mess of her own making, that it makes it hard for me to feel real and genuine sympathy for her.

At the same time, something that really shines through for me, is the life of drudgery, thankless hard work and just being ordered around that Ursula used to live as the maidbot.  If you accept that a maidbot is just a machine with no mind, no will, then that is one thing.  But it is quite clear that Ursula, at least, is a real living and conscious being by any reasonable standards.  So suddenly we are presented with the question of who is better placed to be the servant, and who is better placed to the mistress?

I do find that there is a lot of merit to Ursula's point that she is the only one who has really made good use of her freedom as a human, to explore culture and art.

Then of course we have Melisa's actual owner, and the simple human desire to be cruel and evil to someone you now have under your power!  Somehow I don't see Melisa getting a happy ending out of this, but I do find that I want to see Ursula getting a happy ending, since she is someone who really is growing on me.
