Hey all, sorry I've been gone so long.  As you know from Gromet's post, I no longer have a house.  It burned on January 2, and the ground floor was pretty much gutted.  I was at a friend's house for the New Year weekend, and the rest of the family was out for breakfast at the time, so nobody got hurt.  Near as we can figure, it was caused by the water heater.  Except to drive by and look, I haven't been back.  I'd lived in that house, off and on, since 1977, and, that one time I went by, I couldn't bring myself to go in.  According to my nephew, my room, which was upstairs, wasn't touched by the fire, so I'm hoping much of my things can be salvaged.  Last week, my nephew went in, and, when he came by afterwards, he brought my computer and monitor, both of which still, somehow, work perfectly.  This weekend, my best friend donated an internet cable, since my computer isn't wireless capable, and today is my first day back online.  And, since this is my old computer, I still have all of my stories, won't have to try to rewrite anything.  I count myself very lucky, and very glad to be back here.  I'll try to catch up on old forum postings as I go, but for now, I just wanted to say hello again to all the good people here.  Oh, and Gromet, I think it will take just a bit longer than a week from when you started this new forum for me to hit that 300 post mark.   ;D

Very sorry to hear about your loss, but relived at least to hear there were no injuries.

Best wishes for a speedy return to some sense of normalcy in your daily routine, Jackie.

Hi Lobo,

A very warm welcome back (no pun intended !).

I am sorry to hear of your tragedy and I know there is a lot of emotional attachment to possessions and a house you have lived in for so long.  The house I knew from 1966 to 2004 was totally rebuild after I sold it, and I have not been back since either, so I know how you feel. Luckily everyone was safe, and that is the main thing, and something you need to focus your thoughts on.

Things can be replaced, people can't.

Good news that you room was safe, it was as if the fire knew which to avoid for maximum heartache. Again, something positive.

If you need someone to talk to, feel free to drop me a line. You have many friends here, and we are here for you.

Welcome back Lobo, good to see you back and with a slightly singed computer - we can expect some hot stories  ??? (groan)

I hope that things take a better turn for you this year and that you can turn your loss into something positive for the future.

Good to have you back Lobo Welcome to the new forum.
It is a relief to hear that you are all unharmed and a bonus that your bedroom survived.

For a long time, I've done my best to respond to every post on a thread individually, even if it's just a simple thank you.  Today, looking at the responses here, I can't do that.  A simple thank you just doesn't feel right, so I'm going to do it this way.  Fordman, Jackie, Loras, Daffy, Gromet, Gabrielle, Trish, I thank you all for your words.  This forum has long been like a second home, and people like you are the reason why.
