I'll join the choir of applauses - this is an excellent story: Catches the reader, it's probable (even if still, I hope, a bit futuristic), no real harm done and the mess I like about trash-stories. 1000 words? That's pretty clever to do such a story in so few words.

Thank you TeaSer, it was an experiment to see what I could do with a thousand word limit. The story got a generous amount of feedback, and from the gracious comments was well received by readers. Including elements that visitors to the trash and machine sections have said they like to see in a story didn't hurt either I'm sure.

I can't believe I forgot to post a reply to this Fordman. Really nice story. I enjoy 'machine's going awry' stories. I keep trying to think of some, but everything seems to be covered that I can come up with. I guess that's why I had to design Synthia instead of a failed 'receiving warehouse' or something of the sort.

Anyway, wonderful story with a lot of happenings in such a short format. Great Job!
